Overview

We proposed this solution as part of the Vois Vantage Challenge hosted for all the prominent B-schools in the country.

Problem Statement

Disruptions are fundamentally different from regular business challenges. At times it is gradual but mostly it’s accompanied by cataclysmic and tectonic shifts in the business ecosystem. Disruption alters the basic premise on which the organization’s value proposition gets created and its longstanding assumptions get challenged. In such an environment, the incumbent gets challenged by swift and nimble newcomers. Unless the incumbent adapts to the changes quickly its survival is at stake. There are multiple reasons for disruptions. Technological changes are one such reason. Right from the steam engine to the current age of artificial intelligence, technological changes have often produced business disruptions. Large changes in the political, economic, and social spectrum are one more source
of disruption. For example, changes in political and economic policies after India’s independence led to many businesses getting disrupted. More recently, the economic recession of 2008 created a new set of global players annihilating many longstanding financial powerhouses. Today's businesses also face possible disruptions due to ecological and environmental factors as well as from governments and regulators.

Objective

Antifragility is the ability to get stronger when there is stress or disruption. While disruptions may or may not be predictable, it is the organisations that are antifragile that will dominate the future. While _VOIS has always been agile as an organisation and has quickly sailed through disruptions in the industry, we would also like to leverage them to become stronger than before and become antifragile in the truest sense.

Key Deliverable
  1. Identify at least 2 to 3 disruptions for each of the Political, Economic, Socio-Cultural, Technological, Legal and Environmental aspects.

  2. Select one major disruption among these that can impact one or more locations of _VOIS in the
    next 3-5 years.

  3. Justify your selection by analysing the possible risks to _VOIS and identify the most
impacted service linesin case of disruption.

  4. Create a new framework or use an existing one to highlight and quantify the quantum and criticality of
risk caused by the disruption for these service lines. What should our ‘first response’ to the disruption be?

  5. Formulate a risk mitigation strategy that details out the immediate (0-12 weeks), short to medium term
(3-24 months) and long-term (2-5 years) action plan.

  6. What changes should _VOIS
undertake in view of your chosen disruption to emerge stronger after the disruption?

  7. Kindly provide a broad roadmap covering preventive measures along with the rationale for your recommendations.
